he only sings when he's sad, and he's sad all the time
over the past year or so i've made no secret of my love for the music of m. ward. the gravelly voice, the exquisite guitar, and casually smooth and effortless delivery all converge to elevate m. ward's stature to mythical in my book. so i am understandably ecstatic at the opportunity to see him perform tonight in his last appearance of 2007, in a rare solo performance that almost went completely unannounced to me. my front row seats should provide the ideal vantage point to idolize his guitar work--i swear to this day that the man must have six fingers on his right hand...how does he do that?!hopefully he'll be extra sad tonight and sing the whole night through.
