spoon : the music box at henry fonda
last night marked the second of a three-night stint for spoon at the music box at henry fonda. last time i saw spoon several years ago, britt daniel had the peculiar habit of keeping his back turned to the audience whenever he wasn't singing, and my buddy said he'd be laughing the whole time if that were the case again. wouldn't you know it, when the curtains went up there was britt daniel's back, although cooly silhouetted against a bright red light. but this time, this time he played more to the audience, even when he wasn't singing, so we could see his amazing style of guitar work. they played a wide range of songs from their entire catalog, including my personal favorite "anything you want" from girls can tell. and let me just say that britt daniel does not write too many bad songs, altogether making for a great, great show. in case you've missed them in your town, here they were on leno last night as well.
