the return of the lemonheads
i know i'm way late to the party on this one, but i downloaded the lemonheads new album from emusic a few weeks ago and just can't stop listening to it. this one was out of nowhere for me, as i had lost interest after come on feel the lemonheads came out in 1993. i bought 1996's car button cloth when it came out, but i could probably only identify one song from that album. so i must say, this is quite the treat. evan dando has the two- and three-minute pop song down to a science. add the drums and bass of ex-descendents bill stevenson and kyle alvarez and you get 35 minutes of pure pop/punk bliss. my pick, "december", is not my favorite song on the album, but all of these songs are very good. "december" is just the end--the end of the album, the end of the year, and the end of a spiteful and ire-drawing relationship (well, maybe..."still i hate to see you go, i beg your pardon"). and yet somehow evan dando makes it all sound so...pleasant. it's good to have him back.
